Mimi Rukimi Suwanda

Ibu Mimi Suwanda is the wife of Uyuh Suwanda and mother of the Suwanda family.  She is originally from the village of Warung Klara, but her family is from Cimande.  Her father and many of her uncles were freedom fighters against the Dutch colonization, before the Indonesian independence.  Ibu Mimi humbly brings the lineage of Cimande, the fighting spirit as well as technical expertise behind Mande Muda.  Even today, she can sometimes be seen correcting students and giving advice to her children in perfecting their techniques.   Her tempering and skill in Pencak Silat still remains strong.  Although she has always focused on supporting her family’s daily needs and cooking for the visiting students, Ibu Mimi is a greater influence on the devolpment of Mande Muda than one may believe.
